Peter grew up on a farm in the Outaouais region of Quebec. His career as a journalist took him across North America. He worked in Ottawa, Mexico City, Montreal and New York. In 1997 he joined the National Post, where he worked for 20 years. In 2012 Peter won a William Southam Journalism Fellowship to Massey College, University of Toronto. In 2019 Peter graduated from the Master of Forest Conservation program at the University of Toronto. In 2021 he won accreditation as a registered professional forester. He now works as a journalist and a forester. A father of two, he lives in downtown Toronto with his wife, dogs and cat. The family also enjoy time on their land in Madoc, Ontario.
Peter's stories have appeared in Toronto Life, Maclean’s, GEO, Chatelaine, Saturday Night, The Walrus, Canadian Geographic and newspapers across North America. He teaches feature writing in the School of Journalism at Ryerson University.
