Zack Metcalfe

Zack Metcalfe is a freelance journalist, columnist and author active across the Maritimes, specializing in conservation issues, outdoor adventure and wildlife photography. His writing career began in the newsrooms of rural Ontario and Prince Edward Island, then turned to the various environmental crises of Nova Scotia in 2014. He’s written 11 books, and has appeared in Canadian Wildlife, The National Observer, NCC Magazine and a suite of regional publications such as Saltscapes, Rural Delivery, Your Local Atlantic and The Guardian. His weekly column, The Local Climate, appears in nine newspapers as well as Halifax Magazine. He concerns himself with protected areas, species-at-risk, climate change and the exploration of wilderness.
