Julie Chadwick is an award-winning journalist and editor with a master's degree in journalism from Carleton University. Formerly a reporter and entertainment editor at the Nanaimo Daily News, she also worked at The Discourse Nanaimo as its founding reporter. She is also the author of the critically acclaimed book The Man Who Carried Cash, about country music superstar Johnny Cash’s and the relationship with his Canadian manager, Saul Holiff. Her work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, Ottawa Citizen, IndigiNews, Preview Magazine and Yukon Magazine, and her reporting has won a number of awards, including as a 2025 Webster Award finalist, a 2022 Canadian Association of Journalists award and as a finalist for the 2019 Allan Slaight Prize for Journalism. She is the Nanaimo reporter for the Times Colonist.
