Anna Maria Tremonti

Anna Maria Tremonti is a long-time journalist who travelled Canada and the world covering societal change, political upheaval, and armed conflict for CBC Radio and Television.

She was the founding host of CBC Radio’s flagship current affairs program The Current for 17 years, a co-host of CBC Television’s investigative program “The Fifth Estate”, an International Correspondent with postings in Berlin, London, Jerusalem and Washington, and a political reporter on Parliament Hill. Her podcast “Welcome To Paradise” explores her own story of intimate partner violence and the long-term effects of such abuse.

She held the Asper Journalism Fellowship at the UBC School of Journalism, Writing and Media during the 2022/23 academic year. Her work has been recognized by the CJF, RTDNA, The New York Festivals, Amnesty International, Science in Society Journalism Awards, The South Asian Journalists Assn, The Gracies, The Geminis (now Canadian Screen Awards) and Women in Film & Television Toronto.
