Shalu Mehta

Shalu Mehta is a reporter and editor based on the land of the lək̓ʷəŋən People (Victoria, B.C.). She is a settler with family roots in Gujarat, India, but grew up on the Great Lakes in Chicago and southwestern Ontario. Shalu has worked as a breaking news, general assignment and community reporter at publications in Ontario and B.C. and has spent the last few years working at The Discourse on Vancouver Island. Shalu has a deep passion for trauma-informed journalism. She enjoys environmental reporting and examining the intersections between social and environmental issues. In her spare time, you can find Shalu spending time in nature with her dog, dancing or at the beach.
