Carl Meyer is The Narwhal's Ontario reporter, climate investigations, based in Ottawa. In 2024 he won a Canadian Association of Journalists award for his dogged reporting on the climate pledges of oilsands companies. From 2017 to 2021 he worked at Canada's National Observer where he wrote about the science and politics of climate change. Prior to this, he worked as a foreign policy journalist at the Hill Times where he covered defence, diplomacy and international trade. During his 14 years in Ottawa, he has also reported on Statistics Canada's national economic indicators and has written for outlets such as Yahoo News. In his spare time, Carl loves playing music and spending time with his family. Carl's position is supported in part by the Trottier Family Foundation.
